OUR MISSION

All children deserve to grow up in a safe and loving environment…with no expiration date. Yet, in the United States, about 20,000 youth exit foster care each year at the age of 18 and are left to fend for themselves.

Leaving foster care without having a place to call home, can carry lifelong consequences. Youth who age out of foster care are more likely to experience homelessness, joblessness, incarceration, early parenthood, and drug abuse.

ABOUT US

As a child survivor of the Holocaust and the Nazi occupation of his home in Budapest, Hungary, Laszlo Fischer knew what it felt like to be removed from his home and not know what the future would bring. He was fortunate to survive the Holocaust and spent the rest of his life never taking a day for granted.

In 2020, Laszlo passed away from COVID-19. His son, Michael, established the Laszlo Fischer Foundation to keep the memory of his dad alive and to celebrate his dad’s generous heart and love of children, especially those children in need of a helping hand.

The Laszlo Fischer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

Our funds build homes

The Laszlo Fischer Foundation is proud to partner with Vita Nova to build the Laszlo Fischer House, a 12-unit, apartment building for these young teens to call home as they embark on their journey to independent living.

Our 2023 inaugural Golf Tournament was a wonderful proof of concept. Now we're ready to expand and make a lasting impact for our foster youth in South Florida. The need to get these teens off the streets and out of harms way is more urgent than ever before. 2023: Laszlo Fischer Foundation Inaugural Golf Tournament

In a powerful show of advocacy for youth on May 12, 2023 donors, friends, and family of the Laszlo Fischer Foundation hit the links and raised a substantial amount to support housing needs for teens aging out of Florida’s Foster Care System. More than 130 people gathered at PGA National Resort, in Palm Beach Gardens, to play a round of golf, enjoy breakfast and lunch, and bid in silent and live auctions, to support the Laszlo Fischer Foundation’s dedication to assisting youth, as they transition to an adult life of independence.

Early sponsors included Title Sponsor: 626 and Presenting Sponsor: Your South Florida BMW Centers. Other major sponsors included the H.
